  Gave 5 JW's Something to Think About at a Starbucks Today

  i was having coffee at a starbucks located in a supermarket chain in one of the towns i work in my business .

  while sitting there doing paperwork , what looked like 3 elders on their field service break sat at a table no more than 4 feet from me .

  after eavesdropping it was obvious they were elders as they were talking about the c.o.

  I would say you scored some big points in your witnessing technique with these 5 JWs. They will not forget this exchange with you any day soon! In fact you may very well have given them some food for thought.

  Now, your next assignment (should you accept): There is a high probability that the 3 elders will revisit this same Starbucks on the same day of the week at the same hour as before. Your mission this time is to approach the elders as you did the other 5 JWs, using the same presentation. Be as composed and maintain control of the discussion as you did with the other JWs. I guarantee you a grand slam!

  Par 12 reads : “Jehovah’s servants differ from people of the world in their attitude toward material things.”………….This statement is a load of Bullpucky!

  JWs are no different than anyone else when it comes to material things. From the Elder to the Ministerial Servant to your average Publisher; JWs enjoy fine dining and drinking, big screen television, latest in fashion, expensive and extensive vacations, high end automobiles, the latest and newest in cell phone and computer technology and much more. JWs, like anyone else don’t even mind going into debt in order to have and to possess these material things.

  Jehovah's Witnesses, like anyone else, live as though they are Temporary Permanent residents in this world. So GB get with the times!

We should try hard to get the sense of it rather than merely expecting that there will be a change to conform to our viewpoint."

  Bethel must be getting bombarded with emails, letters, phone calls, lawsuits, text messages, flack from congregation Elders, feed back from COs and DOs and what have you over all the recent and unexplainable changes, adjustments and 'new light'. Yeah!

  The GB of the WTBTS come nowhere close to practicing the kind of love Jesus commands his true disciples to display. And if the GB fall short of showing true love then it stands to reason that the rank and file have the same flaw as their leadership & likewise fail miserably in showing Christ like love. As the old expression goes …..”the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”

  Jesus himself said… “All will know you are my disciples if you have love among yourselves” (John 13:34,35).

  All the world knows of the JWs’ staunch hate filled stand on disfellowshipping and shunning and all the pain and suffering it causes. What a fine witness to all the world the JWs give! What glory and honor to Jehovah’s name this disfellowshipping, shunning and hate must bring!

  How well known is JEHOVAH?

  for anyone that has not been to www.ted.com than i strongly recommend it.

  there is the most amazing range of information regarding science, religion, medicine and technology, and provides a very positive view of what the world will be like in the future.. one talk i just watched was http://www.ted.com/talks/what_we_learned_from_5_million_books.html, which discusses a new ability from goole at http://books.google.com/ngrams to search on the change in how regularly words appear in book.

  i thought an interesting comparison would be whether the word jehovah or yahweh is more common.

  NRFG says: "when people think of the name of Jehovah, they think of all of us crazy ass Jehovah's Witnesses and all the strange nonsensible things we believe in and do."

  I think the word is reproach. JWs bring reproach on the name "Jehovah" by their nonsensible teachings! So the world of mankind is deterred by that name because of the senseless conduct of those who embrace it!

  And yet people the world over love the name "Jesus." I hope the JWs stay the hell away from the name "Jesus"!

  The WT's hard line on Disfellowshipping and Shunning is what brings reproach on the God of the Bible who the WT claim to worship!

  I heard a D. O. recently say that the only ones that can bring reproach on a good name are those who are related to that name or embrace it. Seems logical to me!

  My father is dying

  my father, who has alzheimers, is dying now (he's 85).

  i saw him today - he weaves in and out.

  hasn't recognized me for a long time but was usually glad for the company.

  From Blondie's research for Par 4: 8/1/00 pg 21 article entitled "Why Do They Have No Children"

  "Some couples have waited for a time before having children; others have decided to remain childless and consider the possibility of bearing children in Jehovah’s righteous new world. Is this shortsighted? ...Yes! Are they missing out on life? ...Yes! Are they to be pitied?...Yes!"

  And those sad couples who have gone through life childless for the sake of the WTBTS have the WTBTS to blame! Pity indeed!

  Blondie I noticed another inconsistency in WT doctrine regarding how Elders are appointed in the congregations. Your reference quote for par 3 & 4 reads:

  ***w10 12/15 p.20par. 20***

  The “gifts in men” also include members of Branch Committees, traveling overseers, and congregation elders—all of whom have been appointed by holy spirit. (Acts 20:28) …Granted, like the rest of us, they are imperfect. Still, we bless ourselves when we respond appreciatively to their loving shepherding.—Heb. 13:7, 17.

  Yet, the “Bearing Thorough Witness” book on page 19 par 22 says this as to how Elders are appointed:

  “…..To this day, responsible men are selected to serve as overseers in the congregations. The elders carefully consider the Scriptural qualifications required of such overseers, and they pray for the guidance of holy spirit. The congregation thus views such men as appointed by holy spirit. ……”

  That earthly simple!

  So the question is can the rank and file trust and have confidence that the elders are truly appointed by holy spirit? According to the wording of the BTW book, I think not. They are apparently selected by a popular vote by the elders much like when you join a mens’ club. If you’re liked you’re in and if you’re not liked you’re out. Holy spirit plays a very minor role in the selection process according to the BTW book.

  This explains why the WTBTS is laden with many problems today!
